Why are taxes omitted? I need taxes to offset my supplier fees.

  • Currently, Roofr handles taxes as sales taxes, which are collected on behalf of, and remitted to, the government. Because these taxes are not kept as revenue, they have no bearing on the job’s profitability. So, we exclude these from our Gross & Net Revenue calculations. If you’re currently using taxes as a means of recuperating supplier taxes, you’ll be able to make use of Purchase Taxes (coming in the first half of 2025). This will allow you to passthrough any purchase taxes paid to suppliers or others onto your customers.

Who has permissions to view Job Costing?

  • Anyone who has access to the Roofr job has access to that job’s costing. As a reminder, you can grant access to a job in 3 ways:
  1. Adding a job assignee
  2. Tagging an assignee in the job notes
  3. Assigning a task to a team member
  • Job Costing is not limited to Managers and Owners, since our customer feedback showed that transparent pay is critical to ensuring sales reps understand job profit margins and their resulting commission payout. Roofr Job Costing is a useful coaching and professional development tool for team members in the field.

Will Job Costing become available to Premium users?

  • Yes! Our V1 focuses on core functionality for tracking costs and revenue on a per-job basis.

V2 will introduce more functionality, including:

✅ More control over commission setup and configuration

✅ Org-wide profit and margin reporting in the performance dashboard

✅ Org-wide cost analysis and trends in the performance dashboard

✅ A Premium version of Job Costing

Why can’t I import over my Work Order costs?

  • In its current state, Work Orders do not import over catalog costs, and therefore we can’t import the Work Order total. However, our V2 of Work Orders will begin in Q2, at which point we’ll introduce the ability to import, show and hide costs on the Work Order itself, which will extend to Job Costing.

Does Job Costing work with Automations and Calendar?

  • Not yet. Each job is unique, as are its costs. We’re looking to YOU to help us better understand how and where Automations & Calendar can improve your job costing process. Let us know by speaking with one of our Product specialists.

Will Job Costing work if I’m using per square pricing?

  • Yes, however the depth of your Job Costing is limited. You can certainly record lump sum costs and revenue, but without per-line pricing, you won’t be able to derive deeper insights such as:

❓ Which materials am I spending the most money on?

❓ Are my margins setup appropriately to account for my overhead?

❓ What is my labor actually costing me?

  • Reach out to our support team to learn more about migrating over to per-line pricing.

When can I start commission tracking in Roofr Job Costing?

V1 of job costing allows you to add commission as either a dollar value or percentage, based off gross revenue or gross profit, meeting the needs of most roofers.

But we’re always listening to our users and the following common requests will be addressed later in 2025:

  • Creating and managing commission structures by team member
  • Automations that apply commission based on meeting minimum margins or gross profit requirements
  • Seeing commission earned over time per team member in the performance dashboard

I have more questions, where can I go?

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse varius enim in eros elementum tristique. Duis cursus, mi quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet.
