How to use discounts in your proposals.
Discounts help you create more compelling and professional proposals by offering tailored incentives to homeowners. With the ability to add either a percentage-based or fixed-value discount, you can close deals faster and build stronger client relationships. By the end of this guide, you'll know how to apply and manage discounts within your proposals.
Pre-requisites
- You must be on a Premium or Elite subscription.
- Discounts can be applied only to proposals that contain at least one line item.

Adding Discounts to a Proposal
Step 1: Open the Proposals Tab
- Navigate to the Proposals tab from the left-hand menu in your Roofr account.
Step 2: Select a Proposal
- Click on the proposal where you want to add a discount.
Step 3: Add a Discount
- Click Edit on the estimate.
- Scroll to the Estimate Total section.
- Click Add Discount.
- Enter the reason for the discount (e.g., Military Discount).
- Choose a discount type:
Percentage Discount: Enter the percentage to be deducted from the total.

Fixed Value Discount: Enter a specific dollar amount to be deducted.

Click Save to apply the discount.
Step 4: View the Discount
- The total will now display:
- The original subtotal.
- The discount amount.
- The new grand total.
Note: Discounts are applied before tax. Taxes will be calculated based on the discounted subtotal.

💡 Profit Minimum Consideration
- Please note: If a profit minimum is set at the template level, the team cannot apply a discount that goes below this minimum.
- This ensures that proposals adhere to company-wide profit minimums when sent out.

- You can add your discount to your proposals! You are not able to add a discount to a template.
- Can I add more than one discount?
- At this time, you can add one discount per estimate option. However, because you can customize the discount title, you can combine two discount types in one line (ex. Military Discount + Special Promotion - 10% off).
- Can applying a discount potentially make my estimate unprofitable?
- You can set up profit guardrails in your Templates. That way, whenever a member of your team uses a Template to create a Proposal, they won’t be able to add a discount that doesn’t meet the profit requirements.
- How do I block my team members from adding discounts?
- At this time, you can’t block your team from using discounts, however you can set up profit guardrails in your Templates. That way, your team won’t be able to add a discount that doesn’t meet the profit requirement.
