Creating a proposal with Beacon integrated line items

Step 1: Organize your line items

Before you begin, make sure you've organized all your line items into a template. At this stage, it doesn’t matter if you’ve connected your line items yet—supplier assignments will be handled during the proposal process. For more information on creating templates, click here.

Step 2: Create a new proposal

  1. Navigate to the Proposals section and click on New Proposal.
  2. Select the address for your proposal.
  3. Choose the system you’d like to use.
  4. The system will automatically calculate based on your measurements.

Step 3: Assign your supplier catalog

  1. Click on the Supplier Catalog dropdown.
  2. Select the Beacon supplier catalog you’d like to use.
  3. Click Save—your proposal will automatically recalculate with updated supplier pricing.

Step 4: Review pricing and adjust if needed

  • Any grayed-out unit cost in the proposal is an automatic price pulled from the Beacon supplier catalog.
  • If a price is editable, it means it was manually set in your Roofer catalog.
  • To adjust an automatic Beacon price, disconnect the line item first.

Step 5: Finalize and save your proposal

  1. Review your line items to ensure accuracy.
  2. Add any additional items if needed.
  3. Click Save to finalize your proposal.

Tips for success

  • Use templates to speed up your workflow and ensure consistency.
  • Double-check supplier assignments before finalizing to avoid miscalculations.
  • If you need to override a Beacon price, disconnect the line item first.
  • Always save your changes to prevent data loss.

FAQs

Why are some prices grayed out?

Grayed-out prices indicate that the cost is being pulled automatically from the Beacon supplier catalog. These prices cannot be adjusted unless you disconnect the line item.

Can I edit a supplier price?

Not directly. If you need to adjust a supplier price, you must first disconnect the line item from the Beacon catalog.

What happens if I forget to assign a supplier?

Your proposal will still be created, but prices won’t be automatically pulled from Beacon. Make sure to assign a supplier to get accurate pricing.
