Roof Estimate Software & How to Set It Up (Instant Estimator)

What it does: Allows you to offer homeowners quotes in seconds and capture their information to qualify leads.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Navigate to Settings

After you log onto your Roofr dashboard, click the “Settings” button at the bottom of the left side navigation.

Step 2: Configure Instant Estimator

Next, click the “Instant Estimator” button on the top navigation bar.

Step 3: Begin Instant Estimator Setup

On this new window, you’ll see a button in the middle of the screen that reads “New Estimator”. Click the “New estimator” button to being the setup process.

Step 4: Name Your Estimator

Type in a name for this specific estimator. The more descriptive the better! Remember, you’re able to create many estimators. So, avoid duplicate names. When you’re happy with the name you’ve picked, hit “Create”.

Step 5: Create Your First Estimator

Once you’ve settled on a name and hit “Create” you’ll see your new Estimator instance on this page. Click on the “name” of Estimator to set up it’s details. Alternatively, you can click the “three dots” on the far right and then select “Manage”.

Note: Pricing is automatically set up per Sqft, if you’d like to set it up per Square click the “Per Square” button at the bottom under “Pricing”. Already set up your material pricing but want to change it? No worries, if you change between sqft or square pricing it will automatically update your individual material pricing to reflect the change. Fore more info, go to step 9.

Step 6: Add Your Materials

To be able to provide accurate estimates for your customers’ specifications, you’ll have to add a variety of materials with pricing for different roof slopes. Click on “Add roof material” to get started.

Step 7: Select Your Materials

Select the material you’d like to add to your Instant Estimator. Although you can offer multiple materials to your customers, you’ll have to add and fill in each of their details one at a time.

Broadly, the materials you see on this screen can be placed in 2 categories:

  1. (8a) Materials suited for a flat roof with no slope (Eg. Modified Bitumen, TPO, EPDM)
  2. (8b) Materials suited for different slope levels (Eg. Cedar, Tile, Metal, Asphalt)
  3. (8c) Custom — you can include a custom offering if you don’t see a material listed you’d like to include

Step 8a: Materials suited for a flat roof with no slope (Eg. Modified Bitumen, TPO, EPDM)

The options for these materials will contain 4 detail fields for you to edit:

  1. Name – You can create any name for this material offering.
  2. Price – Label this offering with your pricing per square foot or per square.
  3. Images – Add any photos relevant to this offering. Please ensure you’re following the guidelines around size and file format when you click on the plus icon.
  4. Description – You have 2,000 characters here to tell visitors more about this offering.

As you edit these details, you’ll see the Material preview on the right update to reflect these changes in real time.

Once you’re satisfied with the details you’ve added for this material, scroll to see and click the blue “Save” button in the bottom right.

Once you hit save, you’ll be taken back to the main page for your IE and you’ll see your newly added Material.

You can also create multiple options for each material type! This allows you to create “Good, Better, Best” options for your customers.

To continue adding more Materials, simply click “Add roof material” and repeat these steps.

Step 8b: Materials suited for different roof steepness (Eg. Cedar, Tile, Metal, Asphalt)

The options for these materials will contain 4 detail fields for you to edit:

  1. Name – You can create any name for this material offering.
  2. Slope Variations – Set differentiated pricing per square foot for this material based on the steepness of the customer’s roof (ie. Low Slope, Moderate Slope, Steep Slope)
  3. Images – Add any photos relevant to this offering. Please ensure you’re following the guidelines around size and file format when you click on the plus icon.
  4. Description – You have 2,000 characters here to tell visitors more about this offering.

As you edit these details, you’ll see the Material preview on the right update to reflect these changes in real time.

Once you’re satisfied with the details you’ve added for this material, scroll to see and click the blue “Save” button in the bottom right.

Once you hit save, you’ll be taken back to the main page for your IE and you’ll see your newly added Material.

You can also create multiple options for each material type! This allows you to create “Good, Better, Best” options for your customers.

Step 8c: Creating a Custom Offering

To build a custom offering for your customers, select “Add custom offering” from the New material screen and click “Continue”

You’ll notice that the Material setup page here is similar to the preset materials. As you flip through the different types of materials, you’ll notice the fields change respective to the material type you have selected. For example, the Slope fields will disappear with TPO but reappear with Tile.

This is a great way to create and brand services such as a “Roof Rejuvenation”.

Step 9a: Setting Up Pricing Per Square or Per Sqft (Optional)

You can update if you prefer to use “Per Sqft” or “Per Square” pricing at anytime, simply select the option under “Pricing”. Your pricing will automatically update based on your selection for each individual material pricing as well. The updates will save automatically.

9b: Setting Up Prices as a Range (Optional)

Click the checkbox next to “Show prices as range”, then select the lower range percentage %, and the upper range percentage %. Hover over the “!” icon for more information on how this works. This will save automatically.

9c: Setting Up to Show Financing Options (Optional)

To show customers interested in financing their estimate as a monthly fee click the checkbox next to “Show financing options”. Now you can put in the typical “term length (months)” and “Interest rate %” that your customers are charged. This will save automatically. Customer who are not interested in financing will still see the estimate as a total cost.

Step 10a: Managing your Instant Estimator Link

Stay in control of your brand by editing how parts of your Instant Estimator link appears.

When you click “Edit link” you’ll find a modal where you can edit what the end of your URL reads.

Hit the “Save” button when you’re satisfied.

10b: Your Instant Estimator Embedded Code

If you select “Embed code”, you’ll be able to access your unique Instant Estimator’s code that you can embed right into your website. Just click “Copy code”, and then paste it in the desired area of your website, like a Div Block (ask your website designer for help if needed).

Step 11: Test Your Instant Estimator

It’s important you preview your Instant Estimator as a potential lead. Under the “Manage link” section, click “Preview” to open your Estimator in a new tab.

Note: If you haven’t added Materials that correspond to the lead’s selected options, they’ll arrive at a blank page at the end of the Estimator. For example, if the lead has specified that they have a residential home with a low steep but you’ve only added materials such as TPO, EPDM, or Modified Bitumen, they’ll arrive at a blank options page. It’s very important that you add offerings for all material types to avoid this.

Step 12: Create Multiple Estimators

We know you want to understand where your leads are coming from. That’s why you can create multiple Instant Estimators.

Navigate back to the Instant Estimator tab under the Settings section. Once here, click the “New estimator” button and follow the steps on this page again.

Want to clone/duplicate an existing Instant Estimator? Click the three dots on the far right of the Instant Estimator you want to duplicate and click “duplicate”.

Step 13: Share Your Estimator

Your Instant Estimator(s) are now ready to be used! From the screen you see in Step 12, click the “Copy link” button under the Estimator instance to copy the URL to your clipboard. Now it’s ready to be pasted anywhere!

Share your Instant Estimator on your social media, embed it on your website, or send it directly to hot leads!
