Matthew didn't grow up dreaming of roofing. He grew up swinging a hammer at Walt Disney World. At 18, he started as a union carpenter in Orlando, working early morning shifts before the park opened each day. After years in construction, he joined the Marine Corps, then spent the next decade bouncing between house flipping and technology work. Then COVID hit. He and his wife relocated to Maryland and bought a bed and breakfast that needed work. When he started calling local contractors, he ran into the same thing over and over: poor communication, slow follow-up, vague quotes. A guy with a construction background, tech instincts, and a Marine's work ethic looked at that and saw a gap. So he filled it.

He launched Eastern Shore Roofing and Remodeling because he knew he could do it better. He connected with suppliers, absorbed everything he could online, and leaned on experienced crew members to grow his own skills. His goal is to be doing 100% roofing projects in the coming years.

On the tech side, Matthew was using paper quotes and generic CRM tools. Once he fully committed to Roofr, the whole picture changed: satellite measurements flowing into professional proposals, GAF materials built in, licensing and insurance already included. The goal for the next three to five years: grow to $5M while keeping the team lean. leveraging gig workers and AI tools instead of bloated headcount.
