Roofr of the Month

It was a beautiful September day in 2020. Michael Hill, then working as a lead insurance adjuster, drove out to inspect a wind-damaged roof in a small Idaho town. He usually spent 12 hours a day behind a screen, so this was a refreshing change of pace. Michael climbed up the ladder into the sunshine, and that was it. He decided it was time for a career change. On the way home, he called his boss. “Dude, I’m done. I’m not coming back.”
That’s when Michael launched Boise Roof Repair and Maintenance. He focused on what many roofing companies ignore: repairs. While other roofers in Boise were chasing insurance claims and full replacements, Michael was doing hundreds of repairs annually.
And the customers who called for a small repair in 2020? By 2024, they were calling back for full replacements. But as the company grew, the stress and time away from home just wasn’t worth it. So Michael scaled back with zero regrets.
Boise Roof found the sweet spot at roughly 50 replacements and 100-150 repairs per year. Now, Michael runs a lean operation with one 1099 salesman, a virtual office that answers every call (for just $150 a month), and a tight subcontractor crew. The repair jobs pay his subs, so the replacements are pure profit.
Michael still does it all. He shows up to sites with coffee for his crew. He’s up on the roof. But he’s also home at 3pm, coaches his kids’ football team, and never misses their choir practices or gymnastics meets. Not only is that a win — it's sustainable.
“I went from $1M to $5M in sales, but I was making the same amount of money. And then I started getting stressed out… It was time to scale back.”
From Four Programs to One Button
Before Michael started using Roofr automations, sending a single estimate was a 4-6 hour odyssey: download a measurement report from Roofr, import it into Exact Remodel, build the estimate, send it via QuickBooks, invoice separately, chase payments. Now, it’s just one button and one automated workflow.
